CAN YOU PAIR MORE THAN ONE OF EACH DEX DEVICE TO A SET OF HEARING AIDS (E.G., CAN MY CLIENT HAVE 2 RC-DEX'S OR M-DEX'S)?

No, only one of each DEX device can be paired.

MY CLIENT HAS A PACEMAKER. ARE DEX ACCESSORIES SAFE?

Yes, they are. Our hearing aids are held to International Standard for Medical Devices. The pacemaker frequency operates on the Widex Link technology, working on an audio bandwidth of 100hertz - 11.2kHz.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO USE ADDITIONAL PROGRAMS WITH WIDEX CROS?

Additional programs in the receiving hearing aid are not accessible while the WIDEX CROS is in use. To access additional programs, the CROS transmitter needs to be turned off. The CROS transmitter itself does not have additional programs.

WHAT PROGRAMS/SETTINGS WILL THE WIDEX CROS TRANSMIT TO THE HEARING AID?

For both a CROS/BI-CROS fitting, the WIDEX CROS will only transmit and reflect settings from the Master Program, including frequency response, speech and noise mode, etc.

THERE IS NO SOUND FROM THE CROS WHEN I CLOSE THE BATTERY DOOR. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

After closing the battery door, turn on the CROS transmission by pressing the button on the botton of the CROS.

HOW DOES THE VOLUME CONTROL WORK WITH CROS?

The volume control on the CROS adjusts the transmitted sound only. The volume control on the receiving hearing aid (DREAM 9 or FASHION) will adjust the hearing aid volume in a BI-CROS fitting but is disabled in CROS fitting as the hearing aid microphones would be disabled.

IS THERE A LOW BATTERY WARNING FOR THE CROS?

No. When the battery runs out on the CROS transmitter, the user will hear a message indicating that the hearing aid returning to Program 1 (normally the Master Program).

CAN I OPERATE OTHER DEX DEVICES WHILE THE CROS IS ON?

Simultanous streaming from both the CROS and another DEX device is not possible, however, if the signal from another DEX is stronger than CROS, it will override the CROS signal. It all depends on the signal strength of the DEX device relative to the CROS. For example, if PHONE-DEX is held up to the aided ear, the PHONE-DEX will stream to the hearing aid, replacing the CROS signal.  If the DEX connection is unstable, turn off the CROS.

CAN I OPERATE THE M-DEX WHILE CROS IS ON?

Although it is recommended that the CROS transmission be turned off before using streaming devices, M-DEX streaming will work while the CROS is on. To use the M-DEX for remote control functions, the CROS must be turned off.

CAN I OPERATE THE UNI-DEX OR TV-DEX WHILE CROS IS ON?

Yes, the UNI-DEX or TV-DEX can be used while the CROS is turned on, however, it is recommended that the CROS transmission be turned off before using streaming devices.

CAN I OPERATE PHONE-DEX OR FM+DEX WHILE CROS IS ON?

It depends on proximity and environment. If the connection is unstable, turn off the CROS transmission, or use the neck loop antenna for the FM+DEX.

HOW DO I USE V.2 EASYWEAR WITH WIDEX MOMENT?

ARE EXISTING CUSTOM EAR-TIPS (CRET) COMPATIBLE WITH EASYWEAR RECEIVERS?

No, because of the new dimensions of the receiver housing, it is not possible to use an existing custom ear-tip with an EasyWear receiver.

IS THERE A NEW EARWIRE MEASURING TOOL FOR EASYWEAR?

No, EasyWear uses the existing earwire measuring tool.

DOES THE FM+DEX NEED TO BE MATCHED TO THE HEARING AIDS?

No matching is required for FM+DEX; tranmission is automatic when FM+DEX is turned on and in range of the hearing instruments (within 40 cm).

CAN THE FM+DEX BE USED AS A REMOTE MICROPHONE?

No, the FM+DEX is a wireless FM streaming device that relays the signal from an FM system to any DREAM, CLEAR, or SUPER hearing aid (including wireless CICs) via WidexLink. FM+DEX requires one FM receiver mounted to the bottom of the device in order to accept a signal from an external FM transmitter.

CAN THE FM+DEX BE USED WITH AN FM RECEIVER FROM ANOTHER MANUFACTURER?

Yes, the FM+DEX is compatible with any FM receiver via a 3-pin Europlug connection. To specify this type of connection on the FM+DEX, slide the FM switch to the left.

WHY DOES THE M-DEX WORK AS A REMOTE CONTROL, BUT THERE IS NO AUDIO TRANSMISSION TO THE HEARING AIDS?

This is most likely due to the hearing aids not being reset after disconnecting from Compass. To reset, turn the hearing aids off then back on by opening the battery doors, counting to 10, and then closing the battery doors.

MY CLIENT IS HEARING UNWANTED BEEPS WITH INCOMING EMAIL/TEXT MESSAGES.  HOW DO I TURN THESE OFF?

Find the parameter in the phone's settings that pertains to acoustic alerts and disable it (e.g., it may be under Sound Profile, text message settings, acoustic alerts, etc). If the client is unable to locate this setting, direct them to their cell phone retailer or manufacturer.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ‘MUSIC’ AND ‘SPEECH’ EMPHASIS WHEN STREAMING BLUETOOTH AUDIO ON THE M-DEX?

The Music setting is designed to optimize music reproduction and the Speech setting is designed to optimise speech during mobile phone conversations. Occasionally, a change in intensity when switching between these settings may be noticed. This will depend on the hearing loss configuration, hearing aid settings, the type of fitting, etc.

HOW DOES M-DEX'S FREEFOCUS WORK?

The left and right focus works by setting the microphone mode on the focus side to omni-directional and engaging an effective noise reduction scheme on the opposite side.  FreeFocus utilizes the natural head shadow effect, which can be as much as 20dB in the mid to high frequencies, to increase effectiveness. The amount of reduction on the opposite side will depend on the sound environment. The left and right focus will be more effective when the source is close to the hearing aid user than when the source is far away.  The front/back focus takes advantage of the directional microphones which are set to fixed directional in the forward mode and are inverted in the backward mode.

DOES M-DEX'S FREEFOCUS WORK WITH CICS?

With wireless CIC models, the FreeFocus feature will provide Left, Right and Front focus (an indication of the ear’s natural front focus ability). There is no rear focus since CIC models only have one omni-directional microphone.

DOES FREEFOCUS WORK WITH A MONAURAL FITTING?

Yes, The client will have the choice of front or back focus in a monaural fitting. Right or left focus is not available.

CAN MULTIPLE BLUETOOTH DEVICES BE CONNECTED TO AN M-DEX?

Multiple devices can be paired to an M-DEX, but only ONE device can be connected at a time. The connection is controlled by the Bluetooth device, rather than the M-DEX. If the M-DEX is already connected to a certain device (e.g., a phone) and the user wishes to connect to a different device, the user must disconnect the current device before establishing connection with the 2nd device.

CAN THE M-DEX BE USED WITH A LANDLINE/OFFICE TELEPHONE LINE?

[Please see "Using the M-DEX with Landline Telephone" document]

IS IT POSSIBLE TO MATCH AN M-DEX TO TWO HEARING AIDS THAT ARE NOT OF THE SAME SERIES (E.G., A CLEAR ON ONE SIDE AND A DREAM ON THE OTHER)?

Matching an M-DEX to two hearing aids of different series is possible, however, it will result in restricted M-DEX functionality, such as no separate left/right volume control, FreeFocus is limited to front and rear focus only, and streaming only to last matched aid.

DOES THE PHONE-DEX NEED TO BE MATCHED TO THE HEARING AIDS?

No, there is no matching required for the PHONE-DEX.

ARE TELECOILS REQUIRED IN ORDER TO WORK WITH PHONE-DEX?

No, the PHONE-DEX utilizes the Widexlink wireless transmission compatible with all wireless DREAM, CLEAR and SUPER hearing aid models, and does not require a telecoil.

CAN YOU HAVE MORE THAN ONE PHONE-DEX?

Yes, up to 5 handsets can be registered to a PHONE-DEX base station.

HOW DO I REGISTER ADDITIONAL PHONE-DEX HANDSETS TO MY PHONE-DEX BASE?

I'M TRYING TO REGISTER AN ADDITIONAL HANDSET WITH THE PHONE-DEX BASE, BUT THE SCREEN JUST SAYS "REGISTERING…PLEASE WAIT". WHAT SHOULD I DO?

The handset may still be attempting to communicate with its original base; ensure that the original base of the additional handset is unplugged.

CAN THE PHONE-DEX BE USED WITH AN OFFICE LINE?

If the office telephone line is digital, then a converter may be needed, such as the Konexx Konference. Set it up by plugging one end of the converter into the PHONE-DEX and the other end into the socket on the office phone where the handset usually goes.  Next, plug in the power cord. There may be static when trying it for the first time.  If this is the case, move the switch numbered 1-4 to improve the signal.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF THE RC4 SCREEN DISPLAYS AN ERROR MESSAGE THAT READS "ERR" AND "OR" ON TWO SEPARATE LINES?

Rematch the RC4 to the hearing aids.  If this problem re-occurs, please phone Widex technical support.

CAN I MATCH MORE THAN ONE RC4 TO A SET OF HEARING AIDS?

[Please see "Using Multiple RC4 Remotes" document]

CAN I MATCH ONE RC4 TO WORK WITH HEARING AIDS FROM DIFFERENT SERIES (E.G., ONE MIND440 AND ONE MIND330)?

Yes, but each hearing aid must be programmed separately. Ensure that both hearing aids have the same number of programs and the same remote control options (e.g., timer, display light, etc), so that the remote control codes will be the same. Match the RC4 to the first hearing aid as normal, then disconnect. Then, connect the second hearing aid and match it to the RC4.

WHY ARE THERE STRANGE NUMBERS AND LETTERS DISPLAYED  ON THE RC4 SCREEN?

The most likely cause of strange displays on the RC4 screen is weak batteries; replace the batteries and re-match if necessary.

HOW CAN I MUTE THE HEARING AIDS WITH THE RC-DEX?

To mute on the RC-DEX, press “-“ twice at the bottom of the volume control range. To restore the default volume level, press either “-“ or “+”.

CAN THE T-DEX BE USED WITH HEARING AIDS FROM A DIFFERENT MANUFACTURER?

Yes, T-DEX is compatible with any telecoil-equipped hearing aid.

DOES THE T-DEX HAVE TO BE MATCHED WITH THE HEARING AIDS?

No, the T-DEX does not have to be matched with the hearing aids. To receive the T-DEX transmission, a telecoil (T/MT) program must be active in the hearing aids.

MY CLIENT HAS MORE THAN ONE TV; IS IT POSSIBLE TO MATCH MORE THAN ONE TV-DEX TO THE HEARING AIDS?

Only one TV-DEX controller can be matched to the hearing aids, however, the controller can be used with multiple TV-DEX bases, which would allow the TV-DEX to be used with multiple TVs.  Simply place the TV-Dex into the base for 5 seconds whenever moving to a different TV.

WHAT DO I DO WHEN THE TV ONLY HAS DIGITAL AUDIO OUTPUT?

[Please see "TV-DEX Digital Audio Output Information" document]

CAN TWO PEOPLE IN THE SAME HOUSEHOLD BOTH USE A TV-DEX?

Each person would need their own TV-DEX, and attach each base to a splitter on the TV audio output.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO MATCH A TV-DEX TO HEARING AIDS THAT ARE NOT THE SAME SERIES (E.G., CLEAR ON ONE SIDE AND A DREAM ON THE OTHER)?

Yes, the TV-DEX can be matched to two different series of hearing aids; they must be programmed separately and have the same number of listening programs. Make sure to reset each hearing aid after disconnecting from Compass by opening and closing the battery door.

DOES UNI-DEX HAVE TO BE MATCHED TO THE HEARING AIDS?
